Here are some survival tips for your 4th of July. We would like your day to run as smoothly as possible because population is estimated at around 30,000. So it is important to plan ahead.
- Due to the amount of traffic coming in from main gate we suggest guests use alternative gates. Tell your guests to have photo I.D. ready at gate.
- Holiday Harbor will be closed at 10 p.m. on July 3rd and will reopen at 6 a.m. on July 4th. All tables have been reserved by a lottery however you are welcome to bring own tables and canopies and share the grass.
- The annual fireworks show will be launched from Skippers Island at approximately 9p.m. Longhorn drive will be closed off at Strawberry Lane at 2 p.m. for easy emergency access.
- The pool will be closed at 8 p.m. Nobody is allowed in the pool area after that time.
- There will be zero tolerance for juveniles with alcohol as well as strict enforcement of boating and driving under the influence laws.
- Do not set off fireworks. They are illegal and you do not want to pay the $150 dollar fine. Have fun watching the fireworks from a safe place and remember it is fire season.
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Boaters are reminded to stay at least 400 feet from Skippers Island, the source of the fireworks' ignition. The display has, on occasion, been interrupted when boats drifted or motored within an unsafe distance to the island; therefore, out of courtesy to the thousands of spectators around the community, boaters are asked to obey the orders of Marine Patrol and Canyon Lake Police Department, both of whom will have a large presence on the Lake for the holiday.
Canyon Lake POA hopes you have a fun and safe day with your family and friends!
