The annual Canyon Lake Junior Golf Clinic was held August 3 to 7, with 186 kids participating. Each child received lessons Monday through Thursday and played on the Golf Course Friday. After golf, children and their families went to Indian Beach at 3 p.m. for hotdogs and hamburgers. All the kids received trophies; then hoped to hear their name drawn in the ever-popular prize drawing.

A lot of help goes into running an event of this size. More than 50 people volunteered and spent time helping with the teaching and organization. I cannot thank them enough, as the clinic would not be the same without all of these great people.

Also making a huge contribution was the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce. Each year they run a fund raising golf tournament to help support our clinic. Their contribution allows us to give trophies to all the kids, feed more than 500 people at Indian Beach and have more prizes in our drawing. When you see the entry for next year’s Chamber golf tournament, please come out and support it, as this is the major fundraiser for our program. We could not have as good of an event without the support of the Chamber.
