We are blessed with an array of amenities within Canyon Lake that we can all enjoy. The North Ski Area is one such amenity and member usage of the that area for multiple purposes has been increasing in recent years. In the spirit of promoting the recreation, benefit, and enjoyment for all homeowners, the Board will be discussing a set of rules that will formalize the “understood” rules for using that portion of the lake.
The North Ski Area is a special-use boating destination that contains two primary operational areas – the slalom course and the area beyond the slalom course more commonly known as the Backwater. Members who choose to use this amenity do so for its special nature of boating and the conditions that are made available by limited users operating at any given time. The enjoyment that comes from the use of this area relies on all members using and following the same set of operational guidelines. While some of these guidelines are listed in the Lake & Marina rules, many important practices and protocols that are “understood” and not described in any Canyon Lake POA guidance document. Most often, a member will unknowingly operate their vessel in a way that is not consistent with the understood or accepted practices for this area. Members typically learn by trial and error what the do’s and don’ts of the area are from other users.
The Board has decided that it is important that the Canyon Lake POA provide all its members with a resource document that identifies the guidelines for use of the North Ski Area and will use this discussion period to seek input from the users. We invite all that are interested in using the area to review the discussion document in the August 4th Board package that will be posted in the Agenda Center and let their ideas be known and the meeting or to the Board by email to email@example.com.
