Security is a key benefit of Canyon Lake and one that we take very seriously. We contract with a company to provide Community Patrol Services and depend on the City and Riverside county for security and public safety. The Community Patrol Service contract is scheduled to be renewed this fall. The Staff and Board have considered what needs to be changed in the contract and have drafted a Request for Proposal (RFP) that will be used as the basis for the solicitation and ultimately the new contract. Enforcing our rules by the Community Patrol is the fundamental tool we have to preserve the peaceful enjoyment of our community.
Your Board of Directors is dedicated to address the concerns of our members and soliciting their input on the decisions we make. We set aside time at each open session for discussion on current items under consideration and schedule discussion workshops when more time is needed. Over the past few months, we have received both open testimony and written emails related to our security. Among the concerns include lack of written speeding tickets, illegal parking, staffing at the gates, marine patrol presence, and inconsistent enforcement of our rules. These concerns have been considered and where appropriate addressed in the RFP. The August 25th virtual workshop is the opportunity to share our Security Program and the proposed changes with the Community and solicit your comments.
We hope you will attend the Zoom meeting review with us the entire security program and the proposed changes to the Community Patrol contract. There will be ample time for your responses and discussion. Because this is a Workshop, we will be able to have an unrestricted discussion between the Board, the staff, and the members. Information about how to join the meeting is available online.
