At the September 2020 Board Meeting, several member comments regarding traffic issues were presented to and discussed by the Directors.
In a response to a member concern submitted to the General Manager, a recommendation was made regarding a visibility issue at Canyon Lake Drive – South and Village Way. Due to the curvature of Canyon Lake Drive South at Village Way, vehicles exiting the cul-de-sac portion of Village Way could not see on-coming traffic. This caused drivers to creep out into the traffic lane to obtain proper visibility. A recommendation was made and accepted by the Directors to apply approximately 300 feet of crosshatching at Canyon Lake Drive -South. In addition, a stop “bar” at Village Way will be installed providing drivers with a point of reference as to where they should safely stop before turning onto Canyon Lake Drive. Please refer to the drawing included in the Board Meeting Agenda for specifics.
In response to comments made by Members regarding the feasibility of installing a “roundabout” at the intersection of Canyon Lake Drive – South and Continental Way, background information was provided and a recommendation was discussed. It was determined that a “roundabout” at this location was not appropriate for many reasons. There is insufficient street width to properly construct a turning radius sized to handle all vehicles including RV’s, towing trailers, large utility trucks and emergency response vehicles. In addition, due to lack of sidewalks, pedestrians and bicyclist would have to enter the roundabout. Parking would also have to be eliminated in front of numerous residences.
Your Board of Directors is committed to listening to you, our Members. Please feel free to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with any traffic concerns that you may have and we will do our best to provide a solution that meets the needs of ALL of us.
