No Wake-Enhancing Devices Allowed

As summer approaches and activity on the lake increases, boaters who plan to tow skiers / riders are reminded of two important CLPOA rules in the Lake and Marina section of the Rules and Regulations:

No Wake Enhancing Devices Allowed (LM.9.20)
No wake enhancing devices of any type will be allowed to be used on any boat operating on waters within the CLPOA jurisdiction. This includes any device installed by the boat manufacturer or owners. Any boat that appears to be producing an excessive wake will be investigated. The fine for this is $100.

Safe Distance Required for Towing (LM.9.11)
All tow boats towing air chairs (hydrofoils), knee boards, wakeboards or similar devices, other than water skis, shall stay within one-hundred (100) feet of the center buoy lines unless boating safety dictates otherwise. All boats in tow on the Main Lake must be on plane. The fine for this is $50.

Since 1999 both of these rules have been in place to promote lake safety and to limit excessive waves caused by boat wake. Large wakes impact this community as they endanger swimmers and paddlers, erode the shorelines, and damage docks and seawalls. Marine Patrol staff will be conducting frequent patrols of the lake to ensure compliance with CLPOA rules. Members with questions or concerns may contact Marine Patrol at 951.244.6841 x415.
