The Canyon Lake POA's Board of Directors and staff take our community members' safety and welfare very seriously. To that end, the Directors, with the General Manager's assistance, sponsored numerous activities and projects this past year to provide a sense of well-being that is important to the community.
A marine radar system was installed to assist Marine Patrol in monitoring the Main Lake and East Bay areas. The decision to proceed with this installation was in response to an overwhelming number of community members' comments regarding the issue of reckless boating in both areas. The system for the Main Lake is operational with the East Bay to soon be online.
Under the General Manager's guidance, security cameras were installed at the North Gate, Lodge, Big Tee and Skylink Gates, Diamond Point, Roadrunner Park, East Gate and Happy Camp.
Realizing that proper access to popular amenities is necessary, new ADA-compliant ramps and walkways have been added at Roadrunner Park and the Lodge. Additionally, a new ramp, steps, and sidewalk were installed at Moonstone Beach, making access to the dock area safer. A complete survey of Canyon Lake POA amenities for ADA compliance is also underway. This survey will help us anticipate needs over the next couple of years.
In line with our goal to reach community-wide ADA compliance, the Canyon Lake POA is in the process of replacing all of the outdated mailbox concrete slabs. Additionally, after extensive research, the Board approved adding solar-powered light fixtures to mailbox locations. The additional lighting will create a sense of comfort for those retrieving their mail after dark.
The Estates Committee brought several concerns to the attention of the Board regarding access issues at both Skylink and Big Tee Gates. Canyon Lake POA staff completed several upgrades to the ingress gates, including new access panels and gate operators, in response to the issues.
The Facilities Planning Committee spearheaded the resolution of several traffic related safety issues.
