The transition to RFID access has begun with North Gate. We thank residents for their patience during this process. We are listening to you, and as such a Proximity Card Reader (for POA cards) will be installed in the right lane at North Gate to help expedite entry for residents at that gate.

Management has watched this transition closely. The lanes function exactly as designed, with one caveat – individuals without an RFID transponder on their vehicle should not be in that lane. Vehicles in the RFID lane without a  transponder can cause the lanes to back up, as they have to communicate with the attendants, and then be turned around and re-enter through the guest lane. One or more of these instances which can take several minutes, can magnify backups at busy times. We will be working to increase the messaging about being in the proper lane. Although there were a few backups this week – each was caused by parties being in the wrong lane. We have watched each instance carefully on video, and confirmed this to be factual. As the remaining 20% of residents adopt this technology, and get used to the new system, these occurrences will subside. RFID can only work as designed when all members have adopted this technology. If you don’t have a transponder, please come get one!

The East Gate will begin this transition on February 17. There will continue to be two lanes for residents (middle and right lanes) and one guest lane (left lane). Residents with RFID may use either resident lane for access. However, residents without an RFID must use either the middle lane (must have POA Card) or the guest lane with ID. The vehicle decal will no longer be accepted for access at the East Gate beginning February 17.

RFID transponders are FREE and only for Canyon Lake residents. Visit the Canyon Lake POA’s Member Services office with the vehicle/golf cart that needs an RFID, and our friendly staff will apply the transponder. Do you have questions about RFID guidelines? Call 951.244.6841 x310.
