Lake Updates

EVMWD is Adding More Water to the Lake

EVMWD began adding imported water to Canyon Lake on September 4 in an effort to curb dropping reservoir levels in what may be another dry year. Residents will see lake levels rising as soon as this Friday. Water will flow from Metropolitan's intake at a rate of 47 cubic feet per second and will take approximately 18 days for all 1,800 acre feet of purchased water to reach the lake.

Alum Treatment Scheduled
Another alum treatment has been scheduled to start in the main lake on September 17. This will be Canyon Lake's ninth alum treatment coordinated by Lake Elsinore & San Jacinto Watersheds Authority (LESJWA). Alum, the method selected to provide the best results for Canyon Lake, has a proven track record of success and is safe to both humans and aquatic life. Drinking water quality will not be affected by any of the treatment options. Canyon Lake will remain open during the entire treatment process. Recreational users will experience little disruption during treatment application and implementation.
