Purpose

Assists in the overall Food and Beverage operations associated with the Lodge/Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar and club/sanctioned POA events that include restaurant aspects. Performs a variety of administrative duties as assigned, and supervises the staff in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.

STARTING PAY RATE: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour, DOE

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • In the absence of the Manager, carry out the daily operations of the Restaurant ensuring effective communications of all required standards and procedures to all employees.
  • In conjunction with the Manager, constantly monitor the quality and presentation of all food items, liaising with the Executive Chef to ensure the same.
  • Liaise with the Executive Chef to ensure effective cooperation and communication between front and back of house operations.
  • Ensure guests are given prompt and attentive service at all times. Coordinate shift schedule and table assignment for the servers and bartenders, seats guests as they arrive or supervises the Host or Hostess in seating guests, as appropriate.
  • Complies with all food and beverage health and safety regulations, as well as federal, state and local laws as applicable. Trains staff in safe practices. Maintains a safety vigilance; coaching servers, bussers and bartenders on a real time basis.
  • Take a productive role in encouraging teamwork, cooperation, harmony, productivity and a positive attitude within the working environment. Should an issue arise with or between team members, take it to the Manager for immediate action.
  • Deal with any guest’s complaints in a professional, helpful and friendly manner at all times and immediately advise the Manager of the situation. Take necessary action to rectify the situation in the absence of the manager. Then log the incident in the Managers log book.
  • Whenever appropriate and opportune, in accordance with procedures, ensure that up-selling of food and beverage items is undertaken to maximize profitability of the restaurant.
  • At all times, promote and follow legal responsibilities and requirements associated with the responsible service of alcohol.
  • Ensure that checklists and opening and closing procedures are being completed each shift.
  • Be aware of the labor costs per shift.
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment by calling Operations for repairs and training staff on proper use. Using standard operating procedures to report and fix these issues.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to High School graduation, supplemented by college-level coursework and/or technical training in public relations and customer service.
  • Three to Five years of related bar and grill experience with lead or supervisory assignments.
  • RBS Training and RBS Certification
  • Current Riverside Food Handler’s card or greater certificate.
  • A full and complete knowledge of bar and front of the house operation is a must.
