Cool Off at the Pool

Enjoy our recently renovated pool area located off of the Canyon Lake Lodge. The pool is one of Canyon Lake's most popular summer amenities featuring a recently resurfaced Junior Olympic size pool and a smaller children's pool.  The pool is open late March through November and offers water aerobics classes, summer swim lessons, summer water polo, and fun events like Movie Nights at the Pool.

Pool Activities

Aqua Fitness

Get into shape and join us for a fun water cardio exercise class! This instructor-led class provides a great full-body workout in a friendly social atmosphere, and it is perfect for adults of any skill level. Classes are $3 per class,10 classes for $20, or $30 per month for unlimited classes.

Swim Lessons

Looking for a fun way to beat the heat this summer? Sign up for swim lessons at the Canyon Lake POA pool! Two swim sessions will take place each week starting June 12 through August 4 (no classes week of July 4). Sessions are $85 for the first week/child, $55 for the second week/second child, and $50 for additional weeks/children. A two week combo for one child or two children in one week is $140. Session 1 is Monday through Friday at 10:15 a.m. Session 2 is Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. Evaluations for levels will be held every Monday at 10 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.  

Registration for swim lessons is online this year! However, payment must still be made at the pool within 5 days of registering. Pool staff will contact you within three business days of registering for more details. 

Swim Lesson Levels Description
Tots Swimming | Starfish The Tots Swimming Starfish class covers various skills for young children. These include getting comfortable with putting their face in the water, bouncing up and down in chest-deep water, floating on their front and back with support, blowing bubbles, and entering the water independently. Additionally, they will learn basic water safety rules, become familiar with getting help if needed, and practice kicking with support on their front and back.
Level 1 | Jellyfish  The Level 1 Jellyfish class focuses on basic water skills such as submerging the face, floating on the back with support, blowing bubbles, and learning water safety rules. Students will also learn how to enter and exit the water independently, do supported kicking on the front and back, and begin to practice alternating arm action.
Level 2 | Sea Turtle The Level 2 Sea Turtle class builds on the basic water skills learned in level 1. Students will learn to hold their breath and submerge for three seconds, retrieve objects from chest-deep water, and explore deep water with help. They will also learn unsupported prone and supine floats or glides, and will be able to step into chest-deep water and glide to the instructor for 5-10 yards. In addition, they will learn combined stroke on front with kick and alternating arm action, and how to turn over from front to back and back to front.
Level 3 | Sea Lion The Level 3 Sea Lion class is designed for students who have already mastered basic swimming skills. In this class, students will learn to bob 15 times in chest/neck deep water and in deep water, retrieve objects in chest-deep water, and jump in deep water. They will also learn to dive from the side of the pool (both standing and striding), and to reverse directions. Additionally, students will learn to swim front crawl with breathing to the side for 10 yards, tread water for 2 minutes, and swim perfect form freestyle in deep water for 50 yards. Safety diving rules and rotary breathing will also be covered.
Level 4 | Dolphin The Level 4 Dolphin class is designed for intermediate swimmers who have already mastered the basics of swimming. In this class, students will learn the elementary backstroke for 10 yards, sculling on their back for 15 seconds, front crawl with rotary breathing for 25 yards, back crawl for 25 yards, breaststroke kick for 10 yards, and sidestroke kick for 10 yards. They will also learn butterfly for 25 yards, and be introduced to turning at the wall. Additionally, students will learn to swim underwater for 3 body lengths, perform open turns on their front and back, breaststroke and sidestroke turns, and flip turns for front crawl.
Level 5 | Sharks The Level 5 Sharks class is designed for advanced swimmers who can swim continuously for 500 yards using any combination of strokes. The class focuses on enhancing their skills in various strokes including front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly, with an emphasis on performing a backstroke flip turn. Students will also practice swimming underwater for 15 yards, mastering the eggbeater kick, and retrieving a diving brick in deep water while treading for 2 minutes using two different kicks. Overall, this class is aimed at refining and perfecting the techniques learned in previous levels to help students become strong, confident, and competent swimmers.

Mommy & Me

Mommy & Me swim lessons are designed for infants, toddlers, and their parents to learn and enjoy swimming together. These classes focus on developing water confidence, basic swimming skills, and water safety awareness for both the child and the parent. It's a bonding experience that introduces children to the water in a safe and fun environment.  This class is offered July 10 through July 14  and July 17 through July 21 for $35.   Please take note that the July 10 session has reached its capacity, signups are now available for July 17 through July 21. 


Water Polo

Want your kid to have a ball this summer? Sign them up for water polo lessons at our amazing pool! Water polo lessons are perfect for children ages 8 to 15 who are ready to learn the ins and outs of this exciting sport. They'll dive in for 1 hour and 15 minutes of pure fun, from Monday to Friday starting at 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Lessons run from June 12 to August 4 (excluding the week of July 4). We'll teach your kids the basics of the sport, including passing, shooting, and teamwork, all while having a blast in the water. Our experienced instructors will guide your child every step of the way, ensuring that they learn and progress at their own pace. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session. Weeks 1 and 2 of Water Polo are $60 each, additional weeks are $50 each.

Jun 12 - Jun 16  @ 11:45 a.m. | Basics  This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, June 12 through Friday, June 16 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo class focuses on teaching fundamental skills such as eggbeater technique, positioning, passing, and shooting. Additionally, participants will learn essential water polo vocabulary. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jun 19 - Jun 23 @ 11:45 a.m. | Passing This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, June 19 through Friday, June 23 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo passing class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of passing techniques such as cross face, long/short-range, no look, wet/dry passes, and more. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jun 26 - Jun 30 @ 11:45 a.m. | Shooting This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo shooting session builds on the fundamentals covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of shooting techniques such as cross-cage, strong side, wet shots, and shots from set position. Participants will also learn proper shooting form. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 10 - Jul 14 @ 11:45 a.m. | Offense This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo passing class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of passing techniques such as cross face, long/short-range, no look, wet/dry passes, and more. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 17 - Jul 21 @11:45 a.m. | Defense This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This defense water polo class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of defensive plays and positions to improve the participant's skills as a defensive player. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 24 - Jul 28 @ 11:45 a.m. | 6 on 5/5 Meters This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, July 24 through Friday, July 28 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This 6 on 5/5 meters water polo class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of offensive and defensive plays and positions for situations when a team is up/down by one player in the pool. Participants will also learn techniques for taking 5-meter penalty shots and how to draw a 5-meter penalty during play. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.

Movie Night at the Pool

Movie Nights at the Pool

Dive into the fun with Movie Nights at the Pool!  Join us for a rip-roaring good time as we screen a PG-rated, family-friendly movies that are free and  exclusively for Canyon Lake POA members and their guests, but space is limited and all pool rules apply. The movie will start at dusk and the pool opens approximately an hour before for movie-goers. So float on over with your favorite inflatable and enjoy a movie in the water! The pool office sells tasty treats or you can order some delicious food to-go from the Lighthouse Restaurant at 951.246.2720. Pool Use

Use of the pool is for the entire community, however, you must be a Canyon Lake POA member in good standing to use the pool. Canyon Lake POA ID cards are required to access the pool. Persons under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Persons 14 to 17 years of age may be unaccompanied by an adult; however, they are required to have their own valid Canyon Lake POA card to enter the pool and are allowed to bring one (1) guest to the pool.
