Cool Off at the Pool

Enjoy our recently renovated pool area located off of the Canyon Lake Lodge. The pool is one of Canyon Lake's most popular summer amenities featuring a recently resurfaced Junior Olympic size pool and a smaller children's pool.  The pool is open late March through November and offers water aerobics classes, summer swim lessons, summer water polo, and fun events like Movie Nights at the Pool.

Pool Activities

Aqua Fitness

Get into shape and join us for a fun water cardio exercise class! This instructor-led class provides a great full-body workout in a friendly social atmosphere, and it is perfect for adults of any skill level. Classes are $3 per class, 10 classes for $25, or $35 per month for unlimited classes.

Swim Lessons

Looking for a fun way to beat the heat this summer? Sign up for swim lessons at the Canyon Lake POA pool! Two swim sessions will take place each week starting June 17 through August 2 (no classes week of July 4). Sessions are $90 for the first week/child, $60 for the second week/second child, and $55 for additional weeks/children. Session 1 is Monday through Friday at 10:15 a.m. Session 2 is Monday through Friday at 11 a.m.

Swim Lesson Levels Description
Parent & Me
Starfish
(ages 6 months – 2 years)
Students in this level will be accompanied by their parents in the water. The goal of this level is to get infants used to the water and teach parents about interacting with their children in the water. The class focuses on fun and safety, getting infants comfortable with water-based activities. Parent participation is required.
Level 1/Tiny Tots
Sea Otter
(Ages 2 – 3)
Students in this level will be introduced to independence in the water. The goal of this level is to get children used to being in the water without their parents. Practicing skills such as supported floats, dipping face in the water, and general comfort when moving in the water independently.
Level 2
Sea Turtle
(Ages 3+)
Students in this level are ages 3+ or have demonstrated clear comfort with being in the water independently. The goal of this level is to begin teaching arm movements, kicks, and floats independently. Practicing skills such as confidence with jumping into the water, swimming front crawl short distances, and comfortably maneuvering between front/back floats.
Level 3
Sea Lion
(Ages 3+)
Students in this level improve on their front crawl and learn the fundamentals of backstroke. The goal of this level is to solidify a foundation in these 2 strokes while preparing students for deep water swimming. Skills include side breathing, front crawl arm/leg movement, introduction to deep water treading, deep-water swimming, and front crawl/backstroke swimming.
Level 4
Dolphin
(Ages 5+)
Students in this level will be placed in the deep end and learn the fundamentals of breaststroke and the 3 types of dives. The goal of this level is to refine the skills learned in level 3, while increasing strength and confidence with deep water swimming. Skills include sitting dives, kneeling dives, standing dives, underwater swims, treading endurance, and breaststroke swimming.
Level 5
Sharks
(Ages 5+)
Students in this level will remain in the deep end and begin learning butterfly while preparing for endurance/competitive swimming. The goal of this level is to refine the skills of all past levels, focusing heavily on swimming stamina and confidence to master deep water abilities. Skills include perfecting technique for all 4 strokes, swimming longer distances, perfecting dives, and increasing treading endurance.

Water Polo

Want your kid to have a ball this summer? Sign them up for water polo lessons at our amazing pool! Water polo lessons are perfect for children ages 8 to 15 who are ready to learn the ins and outs of this exciting sport. They'll dive in for 1 hour and 15 minutes of pure fun, from Monday to Friday starting at 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. We'll teach your kids the basics of the sport, including passing, shooting, and teamwork, all while having a blast in the water. Our experienced instructors will guide your child every step of the way, ensuring that they learn and progress at their own pace. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session. Weeks 1 and 2 of Water Polo are $65 each; additional weeks are $55 each.
 

 

 
Water Polo Levels Description
Jun 17 – Jun 21 @ 11:45 a.m. | Basics  This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, June 12 through Friday, June 16 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo class focuses on teaching fundamental skills such as eggbeater technique, positioning, passing, and shooting. Additionally, participants will learn essential water polo vocabulary. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jun 24 – Jun 28 @ 11:45 a.m. | Passing This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, June 19 through Friday, June 23 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo passing class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of passing techniques such as cross face, long/short-range, no look, wet/dry passes, and more. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 8 – Jul 12 @ 11:45 a.m. | Shooting This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo shooting session builds on the fundamentals covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of shooting techniques such as cross-cage, strong side, wet shots, and shots from set position. Participants will also learn proper shooting form. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 15 – Jul 19 @ 11:45 a.m. | Offense This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14 at 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This water polo passing class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of passing techniques such as cross face, long/short-range, no look, wet/dry passes, and more. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 22 – Jul 26 @11:45 a.m. | Defense This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This defense water polo class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of defensive plays and positions to improve the participant's skills as a defensive player. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.
Jul 29 – Aug 2 @ 11:45 a.m. | 6 on 5/5 Meters This Water Polo session runs daily Monday, July 24 through Friday, July 28 11:45 a.m. at the pool. This 6 on 5/5 meters water polo class builds on the basics covered in the first week and focuses on teaching different types of offensive and defensive plays and positions for situations when a team is up/down by one player in the pool. Participants will also learn techniques for taking 5-meter penalty shots and how to draw a 5-meter penalty during play. There are a total of 20 spots available in this session.

Movie Night at the Pool

Movie Nights at the Pool

Dive into the fun with Movie Nights at the Pool!  Join us for a rip-roaring good time as we screen a PG-rated, family-friendly movies that are free and  exclusively for Canyon Lake POA members and their guests, but space is limited and all pool rules apply. The movie will start at dusk, and the pool opens approximately an hour before for movie-goers. So float on over with your favorite inflatable and enjoy a movie in the water! The pool office sells tasty treats or you can order some delicious food to-go from the Lighthouse Restaurant at 951.246.2720. Meet Our Pool Supervisor

Please join us in welcoming our new Pool Supervisor, Skyler Saltos! Skyler brings a wealth of experience to the role, ranging from lifeguard and swim instructor to Assistant Pool Manager for the City of Riverside. Skilled in delivering lessons to children and adults alike and tailoring instruction to each individual, Skyler understands and demonstrates commitment to providing exceptional service to community members and is determined to foster a positive experience for all. His ability to effectively work as a team member, to handle day-to-day logistics of pool management, and to wield great analytical and problem-solving skills makes him an excellent addition to the Canyon Lake POA staff and to the community.
 

 

 

Pool Use

Use of the pool is for the entire community, however, you must be a Canyon Lake POA member in good standing to use the pool. Canyon Lake POA ID cards are required to access the pool. Persons under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Persons 14 to 17 years of age may be unaccompanied by an adult; however, they are required to have their own valid Canyon Lake POA card to enter the pool and are allowed to bring one (1) guest to the pool.

The pool opens on March 11. Spring hours are in effect through Thursday, May 23.

The pool’s summer hours are Friday, May 24, through Sunday, September 1.

Pool Rules

SECTION II - POOL RULES

The pool rules have been established for the protection and safety of Members, Member’s family, guests and / or invitees. These rules are to be adhered to by all. Violations of the pool rules may result in a fine and / or CLPOA management has the authority to write a citation or ask the person to leave.

SP.2.1 Valid CLPOA Card is Required
In order to enter the pool area, a valid CLPOA card must be presented.

SP.2.2 Members in Good Standing
Members must be “Members in Good Standing” to utilize the pool.

SP.2.3 Members Must Accompany and Stay with Guests
Members must accompany and stay with their guests.

SP.2.4 Pool Use Limited to Six (6) Guests Per Tract/Lot
No more than six (6) guests per tract / lot are allowed to use the pool at any one time. NOTE: Guests are defined as any individual(s) who does not have a CLPOA card.

SP.2.5. Proper Supervision Required
Proper supervision is required. Weak, inexperienced or non-swimmers must be accompanied by a responsible person who is of sufficient maturity, size and swimming ability to assist the person in the event of distress or emergency.

  • SP.2.5a DIRECT SUPERVISION Required for Children Five (5) Years of Age or Younger - It is required that children five (5) years of age or younger be under the DIRECT SUPERVISION of a responsible person of age at all times. Toddlers and babies will not be allowed to wander around the deck or sit on the edge of the pool unless accompanied by an adult.
  • SP.2.5b Adult Supervision Required for Minors Under Fourteen (14) Years of Age - Persons under fourteen (14) years of age must be accompanied by an adult eighteen (18) years of age or older. Persons fourteen (14) to seventeen (17) years of age may be unaccompanied by an adult; however, they are required to have their own valid CLPOA card and are allowed to bring one (1) guest to the pool. All swimmers are encouraged to use the buddy system. NOTE: A Drivers License, State I.D. or other form of I.D. may be requested in order to determine age.
  • SP.2.5c Adult Supervision Required for Inexperienced Swimmers - Individuals who cannot swim twenty-five (25) yards unaided must be accompanied by an adult who is an experienced swimmer.
  • SP.2.5d Adult Supervision Required with Use of Swim Aids - Any individual using water wings or any other type of flotation device must be accompanied by an adult who is an experienced swimmer.


SP.2.6 No Animals
No animals are allowed in the pool or the surrounding pool deck area. EXCEPTION: An exception will be made for any individual(s) who require the assistance of a “service animal”.

SP.2.7 No Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in the pool area.

SP.2.8 No Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the pool deck area.

SP.2.9 No Glass Containers or Objects
No glass containers or objects allowed in pool area.

SP.2.10 No Bicycles
Bicycles are not permitted at the pool area.

SP.2.11 No Skateboards
No skateboard riding allowed at the pool area.

SP.2.12 No Scooters
No scooters are permitted at the pool area.

SP.2.13 Obey Pool Attendants
Members and their guests must obey Pool attendants at all times.

SP.2.14 No Unsafe Behavior and / or Activity
No running, pushing, or throwing allowed. No horseplay allowed such as shoulder games, launching persons, etc.

Use of the Pool

SECTION III - POLICY FOR USE OF THE POOL

Policy has been established for the safety and enjoyment of all when using the pool.

SP.3.1 Proper Swim-Wear Required
Proper swim-wear must be worn. No cut offs. Garment must be designed as swim-wear.

SP.3.2 Proper Waterproof Swim Pants or Briefs Required for Babies, Toddlers or Incontinent Adults
All babies, toddlers and incontinent adults must wear proper waterproof swim pants or briefs in the pool. The swim pants or briefs cannot disintegrate in the pool and must have waterproof containment to ensure leak-proof protection.

SP.3.3 Safeguard for Crowded Days
No flotation devices, balls, boards, etc. on crowded days (at Pool Attendants’ discretion).

SP.3.4 Notification Required for Injury, Accident or Emergency
Notify pool attendants immediately in the event of any incident, accident or emergency.

SP.3.5 No Lifeguard on Duty
Members and / or guests use the Lodge pool, lake, beaches and docks at their own risk. NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY.

SP.3.6 Pool Passes
Pool passes are available to Members requesting them for use of the pool for adult non-Members who are responsible for the resident minor children of Members of Canyon Lake. This would include, but not be limited to: nannies, babysitters, or any other individual responsible for the Member’s minor children. Certain conditions, however, will apply.

  • SP.3.6a Availability - Pool passes are issued at the CLPOA offices. Photo ID is required.
  • SP.3.6b Provisional Use - The passes are only effective for use by the adult non-member when he or she is accompanying and supervising the resident minors at the pool.
  • SP.3.6c Time Period - These passes are available for a time period of two (2) weeks and up to one (1) year.
