COMMUNITY UPDATES

Board Workshop Recap

The Board, City, Fire Department, and Riverside County Sheriff collaborated with the community to discuss community security at a Board Workshop on Monday, July 17. There was a significant focus on e-bikes, and the Canyon Lake POA presented safety procedures in development to promote safe e-bike riding in response to their increasing popularity.

E-bikes are a statewide concern, and a California bill is in progress to enforce stricter rules and age restrictions for e-bike riders. Click here to read more about this bill

Current E-bike Rules

E-bikes have rapidly gained popularity as a convenient and enjoyable mode of transportation in Canyon Lake. However, just like any other form of transportation, it's essential to be aware of rules related to riding e-bikes that will help you stay safe while enjoying your e-bike.

Canyon Lake allows e-bikes with pedals, a max speed of 20 MPH, and a 750W or less motor. Riders under 18 must wear helmets, motorized/non-motorized, and all riders must stop for stop signs and school bus signals. Additionally, riders should not cross double-yellow lines. The curfew for minors (under 18) is 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the prime member is responsible for any behavior and actions of minors. Further, possession of alcohol by minors anywhere or open containers by any person in a vehicle (including golf carts) is prohibited. Lastly, speed contests and exhibitions are not permitted. Fines for all of these violations range from $50 to $600.

Board Goals

The Board has developed a set of annual goals to enhance the Canyon Lake community, along with a range of long-term goals to be achieved within the next five years. These goals reflect the Board's commitment to improving the community's well-being and creating a better lifestyle for its members. By setting clear objectives and working towards them, the Board aims to foster a stronger sense of community, improve infrastructure and services, and address the evolving needs of Canyon Lake residents.

Rule Reminder - Pool Use

We kindly remind all pool visitors that you must be a Canyon Lake POA member or accompanied by a member to use the pool. A valid CLPOA card is required for entry. Additionally, to provide a comfortable and spacious pool area, we want to remind members that each tract/lot limits the number of guests to six individuals at any given time. This ensures that all pool-goers have ample space to relax and have fun.

Lake Location Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELM's) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O, and the locations of each letter were coordinated with the assistance of the City of Canyon Lake and the Canyon Lake Fire Station. Residents who have an emergency at a park or on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The letters are stored in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system so that the location can be determined quickly.

PROJECT UPDATES

Lodge Renovation

This week, crews poured concrete for the new outdoor patio and work also continued on the interior bar finishes. We are still part in first phase that focuses on the exterior patio and bar area. Phase 2 is the restaurant area, and Phase 3 is the lounge/dance floor. Dividing the project into these three phases allows the least disruption to the restaurant and bar functions so that the restaurant may remain open during construction. Our goal is to have this entire renovation complete by fall 2023. The renovation will not affect concerts and events in the Holiday Bay Room. We intend to keep the restaurant and bar open as much as possible throughout the construction.

Pickleball Courts | Phase 2

Construction continues on the addition of two new pickleball courts at Eastport Park. Initially established in 2017, the original four courts quickly became very popular within the community. With the introduction of these two new courts, the facility will be further enhanced, ensuring increased accessibility for all members of our vibrant community. The courts are expected to be completed in the fall.
