Get Ready For Maui Sunday!

Break out your favorite Hawaiian shirts or hula skirts and come celebrate the end of summer with us Hawaiian style at this year's Maui Sunday on September 3. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., we will have free leis at the Activities booth (while supplies last), water slides, DJ entertainment, lawn games, and food vendors featuring Baja Shrimp and Tiki Treats. The Lighthouse Restaurant will also offer a Hawaiian-themed menu from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room.

At 7 p.m., the community is invited down to Sunset Beach to watch a performance by the professional Polynesian Entertainment Group. The group’s performance includes hula dancers, Samoan drummers, and fire dances. The group typically performs for about an hour. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs/blankets to enjoy the show!

PROJECT UPDATES

Lodge Project Update

This week, crews started the expansive tile work on the large dining patio at the Lodge. Indoors, the tile flooring and carpet are now complete, and the draft beer equipment will be installed next week. The bar will feature 12 beers on tap and the outdoor service bar will have 10 beers on tap. We can’t wait for everyone to see the finished product in person, very soon!

The renovations will not affect concerts or events in the Holiday Bay Room. We will soon close the Lighthouse restaurant for it’s renovation, followed by the lounge area. All of the badly damaged 23 year old flooring in the long hallway near the Holiday Bay Room will also be replaced. We expect all of these areas to be open later this year, with entirely new furniture and a great new vibe!

The area under the solar structures is currently being renovated. Let's Help Maui

On August 8, a brush fire started in Maui and spread rapidly due to dry weather and high winds from Hurricane Dora, resulting in the worst U.S. wildfire in over a century. The loss of human life is staggering, with hundreds more missing and thousands displaced. In response, the Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors and City Council are actively working together to encourage donation efforts. We are asking residents with the means to do so to contribute to The Maui Strong Fund, run by the Hawai’i Community Foundation. The organization has a local presence and provides displaced families with food, clothing, and shelter. Together, we can make a difference. From one “bit of paradise” to another, you can show that Canyon Lake cares by donating today.

Current E-bike Rules

E-bikes have rapidly gained popularity as a convenient and enjoyable mode of transportation in Canyon Lake. However, just like any other form of transportation, it's essential to be aware of rules related to riding e-bikes that will help you stay safe while enjoying your e-bike.

Canyon Lake allows e-bikes that have pedals and pedal assist functionality, a max speed of 20 MPH, and a 750W or less motor (GR.5.2a). Riders under 18 must wear helmets, motorized/non-motorized (GR.5.1j), and all riders must stop for stop signs and school bus signals (GR.5.1n). Additionally, riders should not cross double-yellow lines (GR.5.1p). The curfew for minors (under 18) is 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the prime member is responsible for any behavior and actions of minors (GR.2.11). Further, possession of alcohol by minors anywhere or open containers by any person in a vehicle (including golf carts) is prohibited (GR.2.20). Lastly, speed contests and exhibitions are not permitted (GR.5.1k). Fines for all of these violations range from $50 to $600.

Golf Cart Reminder

We want to ensure the safety of everyone in our community, and that includes those who operate golf carts. As a reminder, any golf cart operator must carry a valid Driver's License while driving (GR.5.6f); there is a $100 fine associated with violating this rule. Underage golf cart driving is a common occurrence in the community and can be very dangerous. The Canyon Lake POA Board takes safety seriously, and as, such our Community Patrol strictly enforces this rule. Parents, please help us promote responsible behavior. Let's work together to create a safer environment for all golf cart users and residents.
