Lake Testing Update

We have some excellent news! Recent water samples collected from Holiday Harbor, Happy Camp, Sierra Park, and Indian Beach on July 31 show zero presence of Golden Algae (Prymnesium parvum). All sites were dominated by healthy green algae, with no Golden Algae cells detected.

In addition, minnows used in the 96-hour toxicity test have successfully survived the first 72+ hours so far, indicating greatly improved water conditions. Two sets of Minnows were tested from samples taken at location 8 on East Bay and location 10 on the Main Lake.

You can view the full report and the testing location map at our Lake Conditions page.

The previous recommended precautions regarding golden algae contact are being lifted. We will continue monitoring conditions closely and share updates as available.

Member of the Month

The August Member of the Month is Kyler Battleson. Raised in Canyon Lake, Kyler is one of the hardest-working real estates agents in the area, serving as an ambassador for Canyon Lake. Kyler's dedication runs deep through generous donations and hands-on involvement, such as volunteering for the Mermaids of Canyon Lake Dunk Tank Fundraiser; donating containers of water for Fiesta Day and water and fishnets for the Lake Cleanup Day; sponsoring the Canyon Lake Little League and JDI dancer costumes; and more. With heart, humility, and contagious energy, Kyler consistently shows up for our community. We thank him for his commitment, generosity, and unwavering love for Canyon Lake.

Art graduated from the difficult program in the top 10% of his class and served two years on a ship involved in search-and-rescue parties and the enforcement of fishing zones along the west coast before transferring to the Long Beach 11th District Rescue Coordination Center as a shift supervisor overseeing all communications for the RCC district offices and ships. After completing his service and being honorably discharged in 1978, Art served his community for another 25 years  with the Los Angeles Police department and the Riverside and San Bernardino Sheriff Departments.

Also, please note that service providers are not permitted into the community on Labor Day Weekend (Saturday, August 30 – Monday, September 1). Examples of service providers include contractors, delivery drivers (like DoorDash or pizza delivery), furniture deliveries, HVAC services, home cleaning services, landscapers/pool services, plumbing services, ride share apps (like Uber or Lyft). SERVICE REMINDERS

Lake Emergency Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELMs) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O. Residents who have an emergency on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The Canyon Lake Fire Department references these letters so they can determine your location and provide assistance quicker. We recommend that all boaters have a copy of the Emergency Location Markers Map, which includes the physical address of each letter in the event that dispatch requests the address.
