Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT) Meeting

Interested in learning disaster preparedness? Join the City of Canyon Lake Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) at their next meeting on Thursday, November 20, at 6 p.m. at City Hall to learn how you can take a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in Canyon Lake.

Learn about hazards that might impact the area, and train in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, and more.

Can't make this month's meeting? Meetings are held every 3rd Thursday of the month at City Hall at 6 p.m.

Service Reminders

Lake Emergency Markers

Have you ever noticed the large letter signs that can be seen on the lake at several of the beaches and parks around the community? These letter signs are actually Emergency Locations Markers (ELMs) with latitude and longitude coordinates attached to them. The letters go from A to O. Residents who have an emergency on the lake can refer to the letter when they call 9-1-1. The Canyon Lake Fire Department references these letters so they can determine your location and provide assistance quicker. We recommend that all boaters have a copy of the Emergency Location Markers Map, which includes the physical address of each letter in the event that dispatch requests the address.
