Memorial Day Weekend
Gate Management

Memorial Day Weekend is here! With Fiesta Day and CountryFest bringing lots of anticipated activity, we are putting a temporary gate plan in place to help keep things moving and get everyone where they need to go faster and easier.

Memorial Day Weekend Gate Access
Saturday, May 23:
6 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, May 24: 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.

• Main Gate: All lanes open for guest entry.
• East Gate: Member-only access. Guests will be directed to the Main Gate.
• North Gate: No changes; standard access for both members and guests.

As a reminder, please make sure the proper CLPOA membership card is used at entry. Sharing a CLPOA membership card is a violation and subject to fine (GR.6.3), and cards in the possession of non-members or unauthorized persons will be confiscated. Please note, fines are tripled during holidays.

Be sure to plan ahead and share the details with your guests so everyone can enjoy a fun holiday weekend!

4th of July Happy Camp Site Lottery

Registration for the Happy Camp 4th of July Lottery is open! Enter for a chance to win a spot!

Located just a few yards away from where the fireworks are launched, Happy Camp is one of the most popular spots for viewing Canyon Lake's impressive fireworks show. Due to its popularity, we hold a lottery to give members an equal opportunity to win a campsite reservation for the holiday.

This year's lottery will be online on Thursday, June 4. Registration is open through Friday, May 29.

Canyon Lake POA Office
Memorial Day Hours

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the Canyon Lake POA Offices are closed next Monday, May 25. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

We remember, honor, and thank the memory of those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Pickleball Courts Resurfacing Project Update

The pickleball courts will be closed in phases from Tuesday, May 26, through Sunday,
June 7, as part of a resurfacing project. At least two courts are expected to remain available during most of the resurfacing period. Learn more at our
Pickleball Courts Resurfacing Project page.

Resurfacing rejuvenates the courts, improving playability and overall performance while addressing cracks, surface wear, and fading. This process also helps extend the lifespan of the courts, which typically require resurfacing every three to five years to maintain quality and durability.

Court availability can be viewed online through the pickleball cam.

Election

Unfortunately, quorum was not met on Friday, May 15.

As of May 20, we've received:
• 1,059 ballots for our community election
• 56 ballots for Tract 3961

To meet quorum by Friday, May 29, we need:
• 1,200 ballot for the community election
• 82 ballots for Tract 3961

Members who have not returned a ballot may still do so online until 9 a.m. on Friday, May 29, or drop off their paper ballots at the Lodge on Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

- Ballot Measure -
IRS Revenue Rule 70-604

The IRS Revenue Tax Ruling 70-604 allows associations to avoid a tax consequence on any inadvertent excess member income that is applied to the following fiscal year assessment when filing a tax return Federal Form 1120.

This IRS Ballot Measure is considered an annual industry standard to allow for clear tax filing authorization should the Board decide to apply excess income to the following year's assessment.

- Ballot Measure -
Membership Quorum

This Membership Quorum measure would amend the Canyon Lake POA Bylaws to change the definition of membership quorum for elections. If approved, the change allows the total number of valid votes received by the designated election day to constitute a quorum. Meaning that quorum will always be achieved, regardless of the number of votes received, thus preventing membership meetings from being adjourned for lack of quorum.

The current bylaws require one-third of the voting power to constitute a quorum. Previous elections that did not meet quorum have resulted in adjournments, which cost additional time and resources.

- Ballot Measure -
Majority of Membership Voting Power for Sale of Common Area

This measure would amend the Canyon Lake POA Bylaws to require a majority of the membership's total voting power for the sale of any common area. If approved, the Canyon Lake POA would need at least 2,401 Lots voting to approve to sell any common area.

- Ballot Measure -
Tract 3961 CC&R Amendment

This measure would amend Tract 3961 (Fairway Estates) CC&Rs to change the 20-foot minimum parking setback from curb parking restriction for travel trailers, camper units, boat trailers, or other recreational vehicles to a 5-foot minimum parking setback from the curb.
