Lake Education Article
The Algae Problem -

We are excited to announce the launch of our Lake Education Series! This new collection of articles, contributed by the Lake Advocacy Committee, explores the science behind Canyon Lake's health. Learn about algae, nutrients, watershed dynamics, and the practical steps you can take to help protect our lake.

Our first article, "The Algae Problem," dives into the different types of algae — the good and the bad — and the hidden dangers of golden algae. Recognizing and managing these invisible threats before they cause irreversible damage is key to maintaining the health of the lake.

Thanksgiving Day
Gate Management

To help move holiday traffic more efficiently for residents, we are implementing a temporary gate plan in place on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. These adjustments are designed to streamline resident entry and reduce delays during peak hours.

Thanksgiving Day Gate Access
Main Gate: All lanes will be open for guest entry.
East Gate: All lanes will be for Canyon Lake POA members only. Guests will be redirected to the Main Gate.
North Gate: No changes; standard access for both members and guests.

This is a pilot program for Thanksgiving. Its success will help us decide if this approach becomes a standard for other busy holidays. Plan ahead, share with your guests, and help us make this holiday stress-free.

Canyon Lake POA Offices
Thanksgiving Hours

The Canyon Lake POA offices (including Member Services) are closed today, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in observation of the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular hours will resume on Monday, December 1.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pavement Project Underway

The pavement improvement project is in progress throughout the community.

Due to inclement weather, Phase 3 is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 1. Roads include Emperor Drive South (from Buck Tail Drive through Continental Drive) and Big Butte Drive.

Affected streets will be closed on the remaining days from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with "No Parking" signs posted 48 hours in advance. Please avoid driving or walking on treated areas until barricades are removed to prevent damage.

Access Rule Reminder

As a reminder, identification — in the form of a Canyon Lake POA membership card, driver's license, call-in passcode, etc. — is required for entry into the community (GR.6.1). This entry requirement enables us to maintain our gate-guarded community security standards.

To learn more about this rule and others relating to our identification policy and more, visit our Rules & Regulations page.

Service Reminders

RSO vs Community Patrol

Canyon Lake is a unique community that has both patrol services (provided by the Canyon Lake POA) and police services (provided by Riverside County Sheriff). In times of safety or security issues, it's crucial to know which authority to contact. The Riverside County Sheriff addresses a range of concerns, including burglary, fraud, lost property, theft, trespassing, vandalism, animal cruelty, and sexual abuse. Whereas the Canyon Lake POA's Community Patrol addresses concerns related to barking dogs, curfew, loitering/solicitation, noise complaints, and vandalism to Canyon Lake POA common areas. Additionally, Marine Patrol provides boat distress assistance, boat inspections, and lake speed enforcement.

Remember always to call or text 9-1-1 if there is a threat to life, imminent violence, or a crime in progress.
